THE BRAND

We create on-trend items for the modern woman, but our fashion roots run deep. Translating to “leather line” in Italian, the Linea Pelle name has earned a global reputation for the highest quality craftsmanship over a heritage of more than three decades.

Today, we’re a lifestyle brand designing heirloom pieces that combine original vintage-inspired hardware, custom leather treatments and forward-focused styles to create unique pieces that are both fashionable and made to last.

Our ready-to-wear goods add a touch of casual luxury to any outfit, from beautifully made belts to classic bags. Built on authenticity and a West Coast point of view, each piece celebrates not only our own heritage, but the legacy of fashion itself.

THE FOUNDER

A heritage brand...

Still owned and operated by its original founders, Linea Pelle was established in 1986 by Mira and Wynn Katz—no strangers to the fashion world.

Earlier that decade, the couple was managing their own Italian-manufactured sportswear line in New York City called Mira K., which frequently graced the windows of Saks 5th Avenue.

Mira also owned a retail shop called “Without Limit,” where celebrities were known to source outfits for the legendary Studio 54. Mira took monthly trips to Paris and Italy to hunt for unique, contemporary items, gaining an especially strong reputation for accessories. She soon saw an opportunity for a new line: fashionable belts, which had yet to find their niche in the market in the mid-1980s.

A NEW VENTURE

Mira launched Doppia Vita in the basement of her shop, manufacturing the belts in Italy. She became the first to use leopard haircalf and Western-inspired hardware on her belts and bags, attracting buyers at Bergdorf Goodman, Bonwit Teller, Saks 5th Avenue and the best boutiques across the U.S.

After five years, the Katz’s started a new venture to expand on this growing and loyal customer base, and Linea Pelle was born. The line channeled a distinctive L.A.-casual lifestyle, while appealing to men and women worldwide for its dedication to quality and design.

The couple brought Linea Pelle’s home base to Los Angeles in 1990, where they launched in-house design services for other national brands. Linea Pelle’s pieces have since been featured in major department stores and specialty boutiques across the globe. While the Katz’s continue to create their widely acclaimed private label pieces, Linea Pelle has come full circle with a recent expansion into direct-to-consumer sales—the newest chapter in its storied history.
